Job Description

Founded in 1921, Straub Benioff Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai'i. With over 200 physicians who are leaders in their fields, Straub provides its patients with diagnoses and treatments for more than 32 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, vascular and urology. Straub is home to the Pacific Region's only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently brings new technologies and innovative medical practices to Hawai'i, such as minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement. Comprehensive Urgent Care at this clinic provides diagnosis and treatment of non-life threatening illness and injury for adults, adolescents, children, and infants. This Ka Makana Alii Clinic features team-based adult and pediatric primary care to consistently manage the overall health care needs for patients of all ages as well as Obstetrics, Gynecology and family planning services. Pediatric Sports Medicine focuses on prevention and treatment of fitness activity injuries. Specialty Care is provided at the clinic by rotating Hawai'i Pacific Health Specialists or in coordination with over 1,800 system Physicians and all services of Kapi'olani, Pali Momi, and Straub Medical Centers. On-site, walk-in, laboratory and X-ray imaging bring diagnostic services to this neighborhood. Supported by the most advanced electronic medical record system the clinic's team leverages the MyChart patient portal which engages patients to connect with their doctor and care team, manage their health, optimize their appointments, and help family member track their health. As a Medical Assistant, you will form part of the dedicated team of physicians and medical staff that provide caring, thorough health services to our patients and their families. In this role, you will perform a wide variety of patient care activities. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and/or equivalent experience. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), OR Assessment Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE)from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologist (AMT), OR Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency testing (NCCT), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from American Registry of Medical Assistants, OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) from National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), OR Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) from the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card. Must Be able to complete departmental competency assessment by conclusion of orientation period. **Preferred Experience:** Six (6) months medical assistant experience. Knowledge of Classification Procedural Terminology (CPT) and/or International Classification of Disease (ICD-10) coding. Experience with electronic medical records.
